February 6, 2019 (Laguna Mountain) – Five days of storms have blanketed local mountains including Mount Laguna with up to a foot of snow, the National Weather Service reports. Julian, Pine Valley and Descanso all received snow.  The storm also doused much of the county with heavy rains, including up to six inches in some locations.

If you’re considering a trip to frolic in the snow, check current road and weather conditions since tire chains may be required, and use caution on icy roads. Also check these resources:

For current road conditions, check the County Department of Public Works page on Facebook  (www.Facebook.com/sdcountydpw) and check local traffic conditions (https://www.localconditions.com/)

The Laguna Mountain Lodge posts local weather conditions on its website at http://lagunamountain.com/Weather.htm.

There are also webcams where you can view Laguna Mountain available on the Laguna Mountain lodge site and the UCSD HP Wren cameras site: http://www.lagunamountain.com/index.htm and http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/cameras

Residents of mountain communities have asked us to remind everyone that while visitors are welcome to come enjoy the winter wonderland, guests are asked to please be respectful. Don’t trespass or park on private properties, and be sure to pack out any trash with you to leave the area beautiful for everyone.
