November 5, 2011 (San Diego's East County) - Julian receiving a dusting of snow in Friday's storm, though the slushy white had melted away by late today.  For those who missed a snow-day adventure, however, take heart.  More snow is forecast tomorrow in East County's mountain areas.

The National Weather Service predicts a storm Sunday will bring rainfall countywide, with snow at higher elevations.  Above 5,500 feet, two to four inches of snow are forecast --which would include Laguna Mountain and Palomar Mountain.  The snow level is expected to fall below 5,000 feet, which could include the historic Gold Rush town of Julian at 4,235 feet.

Wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph are predicted in the mountains and deserts late Sunday afternoon and evening.  If you plan to visit the mountains, be cautions of slick roads and poor visibility in snowy, foggy conditions.  Campers and hikers should be prepared for subfreezing temperatures as well as strong winds.

Sunshine should return on Monday, when clear skies are forecast. With fall foliage, apple pies and a potential winter wonderland, early next week may be a prime time to venture east to Julian and Mount Laguna beyond.
