January 8, 2017 (Spring Valley) –Three people suffered minor burns and a fourth was treated for smoke inhalation from a fire at a home in the 10000 block of Don Pico Road in Spring Valley this afternoon, NBC TV reports.

“At about 12:10 today we heard a chorus of sirens immediately south of us, across the 94,” neighbor Terri Steele informed ECM, who shot these dramatic images from her back deck.

By an hour later, she reported, “With multiple responders taking quick action, we’re already seeing the smoke turning black, an indication they’ve doused the fire with a veritable truckload of water.  There are still some flames coming from nearby trees, but everything appears to be under control.”

Prevailing winds sent smoke drifting first north, then east, she added.

Firefighters were able to prevent spread of the fire to adjacent structures.  Cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
