East County Mother-Daughter Philanthropic Organization Hosts  Fashion Show and Silent Auction 

March 18, 2010 (El Cajon).-SPRITES of East County, a mother-daughter philanthropic organization, hosts its 42nd annual fundraiser at Steele Canyon High School this Saturday, March 20. The theme of this year’s event is “Takin’ it to the Streets!” 

 

SPRITES help in neighborhoods by providing meals to the hungry, companionship and assistance to the elderly, building homes, or donating gifts to help people have a happier holiday. According to the organization, SPRITES volunteers donate over 7,000 hours of volunteer service each year to San Diego County Charities inclduing Head Start, ElderHelp of San Diego, Children’s Hospital, New Alternatives and Habitat for Humanity. 

 

Since its creation in 1968, SPRITES of East County has strived to foster a philanthropic spirit in thousands of young women who reside in East County. Mothers and their seventh through twelfth grade daughters volunteer hand in hand in order to make a difference in our community.

 

The Annual Benefit includes a silent auction, fashion show featuring apparel from Fashion Valley stores, and dance performances with an urban spirit. Ruben Galvan, from XETV San Diego Six will emcee the event.

 

The event will be held March 20  from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Steele Canyon High School 12440 Campo Road, Spring Valley, CA 91978.
