September 17, 2011 (El Cajon) -- David Scott Gordon takes center stage at El Cajon's 6th Annual Alley Cat Art Fest on October 14 to perform songs from his new debut EP, Believin' in Love. It will be the culmination of an amazing journey that the 40-year old former addict would have believed impossible just a few years ago.

Gordon, who goes by "Scott," finally reached rock bottom in January of 2003, when he found himself physically, emotionally, and spiritually broken. He had failed at two alcohol rehabilitation attempts, and had been admitted twice to an Upstate New York psychiatric hospital. He was even homeless for a period of time.

Determined to turn his life around, Gordon moved to California a week later and enrolled in a rehab program in Riverside, this time with great success. He earned a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Diego State University, one of only about five such programs in the country. Then he landed a job as a caseworker with St. Madeleine Sophie's Center.

The release of Believin' in Love will coincide with Gordon's 7 p.m. performance at Alley Cat Art Fest in downtown El Cajon, but the CD may also be purchased online at his website. Gordon plans to donate a portion of event sales to St. Madeleine Sophie's Center, in support of its work in the community.
