March 27, 2012 (El Cajon) -- A fire that started inside a Mobile Home, in an unincorporated area of El Cajon lead to the discovery of a body inside. The fire was reported just before 9AM this morning at the Starlight Mobile Home Park located on the 300 block of East Bradley Avenue.

When the first crew arrived on scene, neighbors indicated there might be someone inside. The flames were so intense; crews could not enter the structure. Instead they were forced to shift into a defensive position, to save surrounding homes.

Once crews were on the scene, the fire was considered knocked down in just less than 5 minutes. During the primary search of the residence crews discovered the body of a man. A cat also died in the blaze.

When a fatality is involved it is customary for the San Miguel Fire District to hand the investigation off to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Squad. Please contact the Sheriff’s Department for details on the victim, cause of the fire and dollar loss. No other injuries or damage to other homes were reported.

Firefighters credit residents of the Starlight Mobile Home Park for helping to keep the incident from getting worse. Residents positioned themselves at the entrance of the mobile home park and at specific corners to quickly direct crews to space 158.
