February 1, 2012 (Lakeside)—Kirell Rybarev, an East County resident, pled guilty today to felony carjacking and felony battery on a peace officer. A judge at the El Cajon Courthouse sentenced him to five years and eight months in state prison for stealing a car from the Barona Casino in Lakeside after punching a valet attendant.

Rybarev was arrested on January 10, 2012, one day after the carjacking, outside a friend’s home on Molino Street in Santee. According to Sgt. Tom Poulin with the San Diego Sheriff’s station in Santee, it took five deputies and a Taser to subdue and take Rybarev into custody. The stolen car was found parked outside the house.

The Deputy District Attorney in case credited Santee Station Detectives for expeditiously and efficiently gathering the evidence and arresting an extremely dangerous person.
