August 14, 2019 (Ramona) -- Cleveland National Forest officials have issued a temporary emergency closure order for the Three Sisters Falls and Cedar Creek Falls Visitor Use Area, effective Wednesday, August 14 through Friday, August 16, due to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

Hikers suffering from heat-related illness are common during the summer and rescue crews can experience upwards of 20 rescues on any given weekend.

Heat related injuries have prompted officials to implement emergency closure orders when the National Weather Service issues an excessive heat warning or a heat advisory.

Forest officials will continue to weigh the weather forecast and associated risks to hiking in this area, in an effort to preserve the health and safety of the public.
