July 5, 2024 (Boulevard, CA) – Three people are dead after a head-on collision in Boulevard, including a driver who survived the initial crash, only to be struck and killed by another motorist after she exited her vehicle.

The deadly crash occurred on June 28 around 1 a.m. Dora Valencia Magana, 45, of Boulevard was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound on Old Highway 80, west of Tierra Del Sol, when her vehicle crossed the solid double line, crashing into an oncoming Ford F-150 driven by a 65-year-old woman, also from Boulevard, with two passengers.

“After the head on crash, the Toyota was blocking the eastbound lane of Old Highway 80 with no lights on,” says Officer Jared Grieshaber with the California Highway Patrol.” Magana, the driver of the Toyota, got out of the vehicle and was standing in the eastbound lane of Old Highway 80.

According to Officer Grieshaber, a Honda CR-V was traveling east on Old Highway 80 at 45 miles per hour. Its driver failed to see the Toyota or the woman standing in the lane. He crashed into Magana, causing fatal injuries. Magana was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The Ford driver was taken to a hospital, where she, too, died of injuries. One of her passengers, a 70-year-old man from  Boulevard, also died at a hospital of injuries sustained in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family.

Another passenger in the Ford, a 62-year-old Boulevard man, was hospitalized with major injuries.

The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is still under investigation, but at this time it does not appear that alcohol and or drugs were a factor in this crash, says Officer Grieshaber.

tragic accident in Boulevard

three people dead and the families affected, possible survivor guilt for the lone survivor in the Ford, regret and remorse for the driver of the Honda. May God be with all those affected by this tragic accident. I hope the two survivors have good health insurance and are able to get some decent counseling to process their feelings.
