August 29, 2019 (La Mesa) – Thrive Real Estate, an independent real estate brokerage in the East County, has announced it is now affiliated with Compass, Inc., one of the fastest growing real estate brokerages in the U.S.

The local Thrive brokerage, which opened in November 2017, will now be called Compass La Mesa effectively immediately, according to Lisa and Sean Purcell, broker-owners. The new Compass office will remain at the current Thrive location of 8693 La Mesa Blvd., Suite “B,” La Mesa. With a creative, open-floor layout, the office space is designed to cultivate an energetic and productive environment, as well as accommodate future company growth, the Purcells said.

“We are honored to bring Compass to San Diego’s East County,” said Lisa Purcell. “This is an exciting time as we embark on this partnership with Compass. In our short, two-year history, we have become an East County powerhouse and one of the top independent brokerages in East County, so that must have grabbed the attention of Compass. Thrive grew in a way that has enhanced production-per-agent growth, which aligns us perfectly with the strategy of Compass.”

Over the past year, Compass has been shaking up the U.S. real estate industry with fast-paced acquisitions in the western U.S. About 20 Thrive agents have agreed to become Compass agents, the Purcells said.

The Purcells said that Thrive’s philosophy of deep commitment to professionalism and client service will make the brokerage an ideal strategic and cultural fit for the Compass model of what they call “a national network of local experts.”

“When a real estate company comes along that uses words like collaboration, empower, impact and community, the very same words that inspired us to create Thrive, then you know you’re with the right people,” said Lisa Purcell. “We look forward to working alongside the Compass team to continue to improve the lives and businesses of our real estate professionals on our team.”

Compass, Inc., based in New York City, has more than 165 offices with over 7,000 agents in 13 states and over 1,000 employees. The company is known for its cutting-edge technology. Compass has a proprietary mobile app for real estate agents plus a “smart” for-sale sign which provides detailed, custom information to potential buyers on their smart phone.

“Compass is at the forefront of the technology revolution in real estate,” said Sean Purcell. “The real estate landscape is changing rapidly with new technology, artificial intelligence and big data. The future of real estate is in the hands of the agent, and Compass is truly a human-driven company. With Compass, our agents will be able to enhance their careers with a variety of out-of-this-world products, tools and creativity. They will be able to better serve their clients and work more efficiently using the Compass technology. Their powerful, end-to-end platform supports the entire buying and selling workflow. Compass is investing hundreds of millions so that real estate professionals can remain more relevant and effective in the client’s eyes. This is very important to us and we want to be part of it.”

Founded in 2012 as a venture-funded, real-estate technology startup, Compass has raised more than $1.2 billion through funding rounds from investors, including Founder’s Fund, Fidelity Investments, Wellington Management, Goldman Sachs and Softbank Vision Fund.

Compass co-founders Robert Reffkin and Ori Allon started the company with a focus on technology by hiring in-house engineers to develop a mobile app for its agents that provide real-time housing data to help streamline the selling and buying process. Agents can receive immediate status and price updates, see how many people are looking at a listing, use data analytics to determine the best time to list a property and collaborate with clients. Innovative Compass agent programs include agent healthcare benefits, a Compass credit card and bridge loans to sellers.

Compass currently operates in more than 30 regions and 80 cities in the U.S., including Atlanta, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Philadelphia, Aspen, The Hamptons, Miami, Philadelphia, Westchester, Greenwich, Naples, Santa Barbara and Marin. Compass has promoted its “20/20 by 2020” plan, which has a goal of achieving 20 percent market share in the top 20 markets by 2020.
