TWO ALARM FIRE AT THRIFT STORE IN EL CAJON

May 4, 2015 (El Cajon)--At approximately 9:03 p.m., Friday, May 1, Heartland Fire & Rescue crews in El Cajon responded to reports of a structure fire in the nine-hundred block of Broadway.  Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows of “Broadway Thrift” store at 941 Broadway.

This is a small commercial business area, and due to several neighboring businesses a 2nd Alarm was quickly issued.   Quick action by Heartland Firefighters from the Cities of El Cajon and La Mesa, with assistance from Santee, CAL FIRE/San Miguel and San Diego Fire Departments, had the fire knocked down in less than 30 minutes. Broadway Thrift was heavily damaged, with minor smoke damage to neighboring businesses.

There are no injuries reported and no damage estimates at this time. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
