November 10, 2015 (Alpine)--Viejas Casino & Resort has officially opened its holiday ice rink for the winter season. Hundreds of guests arrived at Viejas Outlets for the opening night, October 30, to enjoy some holiday fun by spinning and gliding on Southern California’s largest outdoor ice skating rink.
This marks the eighth consecutive year that Viejas Outlets has provided this holiday tradition for the San Diego area. Each year over 30,000 guests come to Viejas to enjoy this wintertime spree, which is accompanied by a dazzling light and music show. The ice skating rink will be open every evening and select daytime hours, weather permitting, through January 10, 2016. As always, the ice skating rink and garden paths of Viejas Outlets have come alive with cheerful holiday decorations.
Viejas Tribal Chairman Robert Welch commented on the occasion, “The ice skating rink at Viejas Outlets has become an important feature in our guests’ holiday experience. We are proud to continue this tradition in offering a marked variety of entertainment for the San Diego area.”
As the largest of its kind in Southern California, the Viejas Outlets ice skating rink measures at 9,800 square feet. Skate rental is available along with tasty snacks and hot and cold beverages for winter revellers. In addition to ice skating, Viejas visitors will enjoy spectacular performances every thirty minutes at the Viejas Outlets ShowCourt, featuring colored lights, lasers, fireworks, and a gentle snowfall all set to beloved holiday tunes. This daily holiday show began on November 1, 2015.

The grand opening of new Viejas Hotel Tower on October 30, along with the October 9 opening of the 15,000 square foot expansion of Viejas Casino, has significantly increased the number of guests attracted to the Four Diamond resort by thousands.
Viejas Outlets, located across the street from the casino, offers visitors a unique shopping experience with acclaimed stores, numerous eateries, Viejas Bowl, and Southern California’s largest outdoor ice rink. Viejas Hotel features 203 luxury rooms and 34 VIP suites, including a pool and lounge area, and nine indoor-outdoor meeting spaces, including the Oak Ballroom.
