February 23, 2012 (San Diego)--I enjoy a few cooking shows. But I dislike the ones where some poor fools have to cook a standing rib roast on a car exhaust manifold. Cooking should be an art, not a competitive sport.
The shows that feature local restaurants (Diners and Dives) serving of good local cuisine are great. But the shows that show some poor schlemihl trying to eat a six-foot pizza leave me gagging. Who wants to brag they can eat a five-pound hamburger? An eight pound burrito? Yecchhh!
News came this week that a patron of the Heart Attack Grill tried to eat a hamburger called the triple bypass and suffered a coronary.
But making Junk Food a competitive sport is madness- the kids are watching! Look what Google has to say about the Heart Attack Grill:
The Heart Attack Grill — a restaurant in Las Vegas — lived up to its name when a man almost died from an actual heart attack after chowing down on one of their famous Triple Bypass Burgers.
The restaurant is known for its life-threatening food options, and signs around the eatery actually promote unhealthy eating. One sign posted inside the business reads: “This establishment is bad for your health.”
And we can see why with gut-busting menu items like Flatliner Fries, Butterfat Milkshakes, Quadruple Bypass Burgers, Triple Bypass Burgers, Double Bypass Burgers and Single Bypass Burgers.
If there is a sign on the wall warning you not to eat the food it should be observed! Let’s not let our children look upon eating competitive junk food as a rite of passage. We might save thousands of lives!

Don't worry
I'm sure that once Obama-care is initiated (heaven forbid), the govt will be making laws telling us what we can & can't eat.
