WIND INDUSTRY SUSPENDS TURBINE ORDERS AS TAX CREDIT EXPIRATION DATE LOOMS

February 17, 2012 (Washington D.C.) – Congressional members are wrangling over extension of the production tax credit (PTC) , which is due to expire December 31.  According to Wind Power Monthly, “uncertainly over it future is already causing companies to suspend development activities and hold off on turbine orders for 2013.”
 
Meanwhile wind industry lobbyists are pushing members of Congress to pass the measure.  Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Jerry Moran (R-KS) have introduced an amendment to a transportation bill now in the Senate, seeking a one-year extension of the tax credit before the November presidential election.
