WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SANTA YSABEL MURDER 36 YEARS AFTER THE CRIME

August 7, 2013 (Santa Ysabel) – Today, deputies from the U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested Carmen Aguilar, 60, near Phoenix Arizona.  She is charged with a murder that occurred in Santa Ysabel decades ago.  Lt. Glen Giannantonio with the San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide detail made the announcement today.

The victim, Eriberto Landeros, was shot during an argument on June 19, 1977 in Santa Ysabel.  He was 23 years old at the time.   

Working in partnership with the San Diego County Sheriff's Cold Case Unit and the San Diego District Attorney's Cold Case Unit, the USMS tracked Aguilar to Arizona, where he had been living and working for several years. The case will be turned over to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
