May 17, 2016 (El Cajon) – Shagirah Akila Joyce, 28, is under arrest for attempted homicide of a pregnant woman with two young daughters present.
According to El Cajon Police Lieutenant Jason Taub, police received a call at 11:30 last night from a woman who said she had been stabbed in her apartment in the 1200 block of Petree Street by her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend.
Lt. Taub said, “The suspect forced entry into the victim’s apartment, attacked her, and fled the scene. The female who is pregnant, was home with her two young daughters ages 1 year and 3 years, who were unharmed.”
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds by Heartland Fire medics. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening to the victim or her unborn child, Lt. Taub said.
Officers located the suspect, Shagirah Akila Joyce (28), inside a vehicle near her home in the 200 block of W. Park Ave., El Cajon and arrested her. The suspect will be booked into County Jail and charged with attempted homicide.
