March 21, 2012 (El Cajon) – A 17-year-old found her mother, Shaima Alawadi, unconscious in the dining room of her home at 565 Skyview at 11:15 morning. “Alawadi was transported to a local trauma center, where she is not expected to survive her injuries,” said Lt. Mark Coit with the El Cajon Police, who have assigned homicide investigators to the case.

According to police, a threatening note was discovered near the victim, a 32-year-old Middle Eastern woman. The victim’s family told police that they had found a similar note earlier this month, but did not report it to authorities. KUSI reports the victim wa beaten with a tire iron.

Police have not released the content of the note. However the UT San Diego reports that a family friend said the note told the family to “go back to your own country. You’re a terrorist.”

The friend said Alawadi is a devout and modest Iraqi woman; the attack occurred when her husband took the children to school.

No additional information is being released by authorities at this time and no suspect has been named.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311.
