August 9, 2017 (Santee) – A woman walking her dog shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday night in the 9700 block of Cottonwood in Santee was violently assaulted.

The Sheriff’s office reports that a man attacked the woman from behind and cut her shorts. The victim suffered scratches and was taken to a hospital, then released later that evening.

There is no suspect description, since the victim was attacked from behind and could not see the assailant. A search by deputies and a helicopter was unsuccessful and this suspect remains at large.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Santee Sheriff's Station at 619-956-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tips may be submitted anonymously, and callers may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to a felony arrest.
