FRIENDS OF EAST COUNTY ARTS CELEBRATES ANNUAL HOLIDAY TEA DEC. 9

November 10, 2010 (El Cajon)—You’re invited to begin the holiday season with the warmth of friendship at Friends of East County Arts’ Annual Holiday Tea on Thursday December 9 the Ronald Reagan Community Center, 195 East Douglas Avenue, El Cajon, from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

 

This year’s event promises participants a stimulating afternoon of delicious tea and sandwiches, entertainment, a silent auction and raffle prizes. Entertainment will be provided by rising new vocalists Jody Bagley and Christy Phares, with accompaniment by Sally Brumfield.

THANKSGIVING DAY GOLF TOURNAMENT AT COTTONWOOD

November 10, 2010 (Rancho San Diego) – Score a birdie this Thanksgiving Day—and no, we’re not talking about a turkey on the table.

 

Cottonwood Golf Course in the Rancho San Diego area of El Cajon is serving up a Thanksgiving Day Shotgun Golf Tournament—complete with buffet breakfast on the lake, green fee and cart for $49.

Along with the parties, dinners and social events comes the end of daylight savings time. People tend to get more sedate and eat more. Not a good combination!

November 8, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – The 35th annual East County Toy and Food Drive is now underway.

Scroll down for a complete list of events and see how you can help brighten the holidays for those in need. 

If your family needs help this holiday season, submit your application in person on November 20th at the Salvation Army office, 1011 E. Main Street in El Cajon. Appointment numbers will be distributed starting at 5 a.m. Toys are for children under age 12 and space is limited.

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN TRAIL HIKE AT DOS PICOS

 

October 29, 2010 (Ramona)--What could be spookier than a haunted hike in the woods?  Dos Picos CountyPark in Ramona is offering a haunted trail hike on Saturday, October 30th at 7:30 and 8 p.m.

 

The scary but kid-friendly trail hikes will include a moderate walk with some hills and uneven surfaces. Younger hikers must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is encouraged to bring a flashlight.

Halloween event includes prizes for runners with best costumes

October 21, 2010 (El Cajon) – Up to 3,000 participants are expected to take part in a 5K “Mud Run” on October 31st. The charity fundraiser  takes off at Skyline Church, 11330 in La Mesa, raising money to benefit children’s programs with Sonshinehaven.org, programs offered by Skyline Sports, and Rescue Task Force, a world relief organization.

October 21, 2010 (Julian) -- On Sunday, October 31, at 5:00 p.m. Jeremy’s on the Hill California-Style Bistro teams up with Stone Brewing Company to host a five-course Beer Pairing. The event will feature local produce and ingredients, as well as specialty hops and at least one course featuring grass fed American bison from Star B Buffalo Ranch and Hops Farm.
