May 20, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Alumni of East County high schools are finding their marks in the major leagues and in college baseball this week.

Two former East County alums made waves for the Padres.  Valhalla Norseman alum Greg Garcia went 1 for 3 with a double and one run scored for the Padres as they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 on Sunday. 

Former Grossmont Foothiller Joe Musgrove improved his record to 3-4 as he pitched 6.1 innings and gave up four hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and four strikeouts for the Bucs.

May 20, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego County American Legion Baseball is comprised of the greater San Diego County and offers an abundance of High School talent. Historically, San Diego was once a prominent region for Legion Baseball. In the The American Legion World Series, San Diego teams were crowned National Champions in 1938, 1941 and 1954. For whatever reason in the 1980's, San Diego County American Legion Baseball disappeared.

May 18, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State baseball team capped the 2019 regular season with a 7-4 loss against New Mexico on Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs finish the regular season with a 32-23 record (16-13 Mountain West), while New Mexico finishes 2019 with a 23-28-1 record (11-16-1 MW).

May 17, 2019 (San Diego) - Despite a strong start from Adrian Mardueno, the San Diego State baseball team fell to New Mexico 2-0 at Tony Gwynn Stadium on Friday night to even the weekend series. The Aztecs now sit at 32-22 (16-12 Mountain West), while New Mexico improves its record to 22-28-1 (10-16-1 MW).

May 17, 2019 (Oklahoma City) - The San Diego State rowing team competed in the American Athletic Conference Championship Friday morning at the US Rowing National High Performance Center, where the Aztecs finished fifth in the conference as a team and logged a third, two fourths and two fifth-place finishes across its five races. Sophomore Hannah Broadland earned all-AAC first team honors, while freshman Helen Bauer made the second team.

May 16, 2019 (San Diego) - Behind a complete game shutout by senior right-handed pitcher Justin Goossen-Brown, the San Diego State baseball team opened its three-game series against New Mexico with an 8-0 victory on Thursday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs improve to 32-21 (16-11 Mountain West) on the season. New Mexico, meanwhile, saw its record fall to 21-28-1 (9-16-1).

May 16, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State men’s and women’s tennis programs will offer youth tennis camps this summer, which will be led by men’s assistant coach Jeff Thomsen and women’s assistant coach Nico Vinel. Two camp weeks will be offered, first from July 22-26 and again from July 29 through August 2, both at the Aztec Tennis Center.

May 15, 2019 (San Diego) - With a rose ceremony to start the match, the ASC San Diego players presented their mothers with beautiful red roses in front of a packed home crowd at Mission Bay Stadium this Sunday. It was a sentimental start to what would be a difficult loss for the home team when they were unable to secure three valuable points in their Southwestern Conference bid for the postseason.

May 15, 2019 (San Diego) - Despite an incredible late effort from Natasha Kai, her 88th-minute goal was not enough for the ASC San Diego women's team to grab the win in their first ever match as a team.

Kai, a forward for ASC, was doing double duty and helping out the back line, including hitting a magnificent header that knocked away a powerful cross from a San Diego Surf winger.

May 12, 2019 (Fresno) - The San Diego State baseball team suffered an 8-3 loss to Fresno State in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Aztecs, now 2.5 games behind Fresno State for first place in the conference, are now 31-21 overall and 15-11 in the Mountain West.

With the series now tied, the Aztecs are now 1.5 games behind the Bulldogs in the Mountain West standings.

May 10, 2019 (Fresno) - San Diego State had a four-game winning streak come to a close after a 10-2 loss to Fresno State on Friday night. With the loss, the Aztecs are now 2.5 games behind the Bulldogs for first place in the Mountain West with a conference record of 14-10 (30-20 overall). The Bulldogs improve to 31-13-1 with a 16-7-1 league mark while extending their win streak to five.

May 9, 2019 (Logan, Utah) - The San Diego State softball team dropped the series opener, 4-3, to Utah State Thursday afternoon in Logan, Utah.

The Aztecs (24-25, 11-11 MW) had plenty of chances to break open a close game, but left 10 runners on base, going 4-for-17 (.235) with runners on base, 2-for-11 (.182) with runners in scoring position and 1-for-4 (.250) with the bases loaded.

May 9, 2019 (Clovis) -  Asia Smith and Sara Absten combined to pick up eight points for the Aztecs in the heptathlon Thursday evening at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Smith took third with 5,309 points and Absten placed seventh with 4,937 points with both heptathletes setting new personal bests for total points.

The Aztecs fired a collective 7-over-par 295 during the final round for a 54-hole total of 889 (+25) at Suncadia Resort’s Tumble Creek Course.

ASC SAN DIEGO RUNS AWAY WITH 4-0 VICTORY OVER HIGH DESERT

May 6, 2019 (Adelanto, Calif.) ASC San Diego fired four past NPSL newcomers High Desert Elite FC to secure crucial victory away at Adelanto Stadium in the race to the Southwestern Conference playoffs. ASC showed no intentions of making Saturday’s matchup a tight affair as they bullied the High Desert defense from the start of the whistle. It took just 5 minutes for High Desert to succumb to ASC San Diego’s attacking pressure as Eijin Kishimoto sent in a dangerous cross into the box forcing a High Desert defender to attempt a clearance that was scuffed into the back of his own net to give ASC an early 1-0 lead.
