Do you run a non-profit organization which serves low and moderate-income people who’ve been impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic?

If so, you may qualify for a share of about $4 million from the County Housing and Community Development Services’ Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The funds are available for projects in the following areas:

WILD IN THE COUNTRY 2014 AT LIONS, TIGERS & BEARS MAY 10

 

May 8, 2014 (Alpine) - Lions, Tigers & Bears, the Alpine non-profit exotic animal sanctuary, invites guests to  “follow the yellow brick road” to its annual Wild in the Country Gala on May 10, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. The event, held at the sanctuary and open to the public, features a silent and live auction, live entertainment and music, a catered dinner, visits with the big cats and bears, interactions with ranch and farm animals in Animal Encounters and fun for the whole family.

SIXTH ANNUAL TREE OF HOPE CELEBRATION & CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL

Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa Brings Holiday Fun to Easter Seals & Local Children

December 13, 2012, (San Diego)--The Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa hosted their 6th Annual Tree of Hope Celebration and Christmas Carnival for Easter Seals Southern California and San Diego County children and adults with disabilities on Saturday, December 8.The guests and their families were treated to an afternoon of visits with Santa & Mrs. Claus, dancing with elves, crafts, cookie decorating and carnival games.  Guests also enjoyed seasonal treats such as hot chocolate, popcorn, hot pretzels, cookies and cider all compliments of the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa.

July 4, 2012 (Sa Diego) -- San Diego County anticipates being awarded funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter (EFSP) National Board program. The amount to be received has not yet been announced.

April 26, 2012 (San Diego) -- As part of Grossmont Community College’s 16th Annual Literary Arts Festival, Tim O’Brien will be reading and signing books on Thursday, May 03, 2:00 - 3:15 p.m., Griffin Gate (Building 60.)
 
O’Brien is best known for his novel, The Things They Carried, a National Book Award Winner and Pulitzer Prize Finalist, considered one of the most, if not the most, powerful books about the Vietnam War and war in general.

SPRITES HOSTS BENEFIT MARCH 24

 
March 6, 2012 (San Diego's East County) -- Sprites of East County, a mother-daughter philanthropic organization, will host its annual benefit on March 24 at Steele Canyon High School, 12440 Campo Road in Spring Valley.  The theme of this year's event is "Sprites Revolution." The annual benefit includes a silent auction, fashion show featuring apparel from Fashion Valley stores, dance performances, and a delicious catered lunch.  All proceeds benefit their charities.

SDG&E TO AWARD $1 MILLION IN COMMUNITY GRANTS THROUGH EXCELLENCE IN CIVIC LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE

February 8, 2012 (San Diego) -- Yesterday, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) kicked off the 2nd annual Excellence in Civic Leadership initiative, a $1 million charitable giving campaign to support non-profit organizations that focus on character development and fair and ethical leadership in youth.

SANTEE SANTAS TO RECEIVE $1,000 DONATION FROM FRESH & EASY

 
January 21, 2012 (Santee) – The 2012 holiday season may be almost a year away, but Santee Santas are getting an early holiday gift.  The all-volunteer, non-profit organization that has been bringing the spirit of the holidays to the Santee community for more than fifty years was informed that they will be the recipients of a $1,000 cash donation from Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market.
