VIEJAS CASINO OPENS NEW HIGH-STAKES BINGO ROOM

 

March 28, 2012 – Viejas Casino reached a major milestone, with the opening of a new high-stakes, high tech Bingo Room. Tribal elders, tribal leaders, local dignitaries, Chamber of Commerce representatives and the public all joined in the Grand Opening of the new Bingo Room. The ceremonies included a Tribal Blessing, traditional Native American Bird Songs and a ribbon cutting.

LOCAL MAN TAKES A “POLAR PLUNGE” TO SUPPORT HOSPICE PATIENTS

 
Tom Freeley Raises $4,700 For Sharp HospiceCare with dip in Lake Arrowhead’s 45-degree waters
 
February 29, 2012 (La Mesa) –San Diego resident Tom Freeley raised $4,700 for La Mesa-based Sharp HospiceCare at the “PolaRotary Plunge” on February 4 in Lake Arrowhead.  As one of 60 participants to brave the lake’s 45-degree temperatures, Freeley’s fundraising efforts generated the most money by an individual and contributed to the event’s total amount of more than $22,000 for various charities.
 
Freeley learned about the event during one of his monthly visits to the area with his girlfriend, Luanne Brito. Brito is co-chair for Sharp HospiceCare's annual fundraising regatta which takes place in August. A portion of proceeds will also benefit the event's sponsor, the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Club.

October 8, 2011 (SAn Diego) -- Would San Diego residents survive a major earthquake? They would greatly improve their chances of escaping serious injury or death by taking the safest action: Drop, Cover and Hold On. San Diego County residents have three more weeks to join the nearly eight million Californians, including more than 646,000 people in San Diego County, who have already signed up for the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill, which will take place at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 or 10:20 on 10/20.


“We are challenging our residents, community and business leaders to register for the ShakeOut drill and make earthquake preparedness part of their emergency plan,” said Chairman Bill Horn, Board of Supervisors. “The Great California ShakeOut drill starts the community thinking about personal preparedness and workplace safety.”

 May 18, 2011 (El Cajon) -- Captain Sam Diego and all of his crew are busy preparing for the Cajon Valley Jamboree of 2001 to be held at  the Holy Trinity School Campus 405 Ballard Street, El Cajon from May 20 through May 22, 2011.
 

This year's theme, "Your Passport To Travel and Fun," is rallying the community together for plenty of fun right here in the heart of El Cajon. The Cajon Valley Jamboree is just as committed now as it was in 1948 in bringing the City of El Cajon and fostering communities spirit.
