220-ACRE FIRE NEARS VALLECITO

We thank both IPN and Cal Fire for providing information as quickly as possible on the many fires in our region, and remind our readers that alerts are based on the best information available at the time, information that can evolve as conditions change and clarifications are received. 

 

 

 Update: August 13, 2012 (Julian) 8:30 a.m. - CAL FIRE and the San Diego County Fire Authority are on scene of a 220 acre brush fire that started near the Community of Vallecito off of Mason Valley Truck Trail (TB Map 1177 H3).  The fire has burned up to Chariot Mountain. It started last night, and the cause is under investigation.  There is no threat to structures.

August 12, 2012 (Julian ) – A brush fire southeast of Julian has burned 30 acres and is spreading at a moderate rate, according to Battalion  Chief Nick Schuler with Cal Fire.  No structures are currently threatened.  View a map:  http://maps.google.com/?q=32.998631,-116.476112

Today, 635 lightning strikes hit San Diego County during today’s thunderstorms in the mountain and desert areas.

Additional resources are being prepositioned in San Diego County should addition fires surface as a result of the numerous lightning strikes.
