ACCIDENTS CLAIM LIVES OF FOUR EAST COUNTY RESIDENTS

September 3, 2013 (San Diego’s East County)—Traffic accidents claimed the lives of four East County residents in the past ten days, including victims from Lakeside, Ramona, and Alpine, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner. 

On September 2, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine from Lakeside died at the scene of an accident on State Route 79 at the junction of State Route 78 at 9:44 a.m.. The Marine, who has not been identified pending notification of family, was struck by a pickup truck while driving a motorcycle and attempting to pass another vehicle. He was declared dead by emergency responders without intervention.

Kenneth Frederick Crane, 74,  was killed in a  collision on August 29 at 8:02 p.m. on San Vicente Road south of Warnock Drive in Ramona.  He was driving his Ford Ranger northbound and wearing his seatbelt when another Ford Ranger traveling southbound drifted over the center line and struck his vehicle head-on.   A witness called 9-1-1 and paramedics confirmed death at the scene.   Crane resided with his wife in Ramona.

Mark Richard Lambert, 61, died at Sharp Hospital on August 24 of injuries sustained shortly before in a motorcycle accident.  Lambert lost control of his motorcycle traveling westbound on I-8 in Alpine and was thrown to the ground.  A married resident of Santee, Lambert was wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal crash.

Victoria Scott Richeson, 18,  died August 22 at 9:53 p.m.  at the scene of a single-car crash on San Vicente Road just west of Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside.  She failed to negotiate a curve , lost control and struck a tree.  A witness called 911 but emergency personnel confirmed death without intervention due to obvious trauma.  Richeson resided in Ramona with her parents.
