August 28, 2018 (Borrego Springs) -- What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of a parade—a holiday? Decorated floats? Marching bands? What about thousands of people gathered in the middle of the desert for a parade themed “eyes to the skies?” Far from your average hometown parade, the 53rd annual Borrego Days Desert Festival on October 20th will feature an all new gravity-defying air parade.

Feel gusts of winds brush the hairs on your neck as over 30 vintage and military aircrafts sweep down Palm Canyon Drive before bolting into the sky with incredible coordination. The best part about Borrego Days is that the entertainment is free, so kick back and witness a mesmerizing 30-minute air parade at 10 a.m. followed by a street parade at 10:30.

The Borrego Days Parade will showcase the creativity that exemplifies this desert gem of a town with over 100 outrageous entries, marching bands from desert sister cities to San Diego County, classic and exotic automobiles, equestrian groups, elaborate floats and trick-riding cowboys.

As the parade concludes, make your way to Christmas Circle where you will be greeted with an array of activities to keep the celebrations going. Shop your way through over 75 unique vendors and artists offering a variety of handmade goods, artwork, crafts and food offerings to satisfy your every craving.  You can also stop by Saturday’s Borrego Days Car Show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to browse a showcase of automobiles from yester-year that are sure to ignite a feeling of nostalgia.

Later you can dance the day away with a variety of live entertainment at the main stage featuring bands, Latin beats, local community performances and more.  Cool off in the beverage garden and enjoy the breathtaking Borrego sunset while sipping a refreshing beer or an ice-cold margarita.

The Borrego Days Desert Festival runs two days, October 20th and 21st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s something for all ages to enjoy including a kids’ carnival with rock wall, inflatable slides and carnival games.

The festival itself is free. Wristbands for unlimited access to slides and other inflatable attractions cost $25 a day, or add unlimited rock wall climbing, too for a total of $30.

The Borrego Days Desert Festival is a project of the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce& Visitors’ Bureau (borregospringschamber.com), serving the needs of the community of Borrego Springs since 1950, and with the support of its 501(c)(3) public benefit fiscal sponsor the Borrego Festivals Foundation.
