ALPINE CHAMBER CELEBRATES COMMUNITY HEROES AUGUST 27

August 20, 2016 (Alpine) — East County Magazine will be among the “community heroes” honored at the Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce’s “Heroes Excellent Leadership Public Service” or “HELPS” awards.

The awards will be presented at a dinner to be held Saturday, August 27th at the Viejas Casino & Resort, Grand Oak Ballroom.

The awards recognize “our heroes, community organizations and individuals that have demonstrated community heroism, leadership and public service for the benefit of our communities,” according to the event flyer.

East County Magazine is being recognized as a Media Community Partner.

Our coverage of issues in Alpine and the Mountain Empire region recently has included Alpine High School issues, Grossmont redistricting, the Border Fire, Chamber and business news, festivals and attractions, investigative report on fire and ambulance service changes, good works by nonprofits such as Lions, Tigers and Bears, tribal news, land use issues, as growth impacts on Cleveland National Forest, the Covert Canyon controversy, public safety concerns such as EMFs and low water levels in Lake Morena, the new Alpine Library, crime and law enforcement, rural veterans’ issues, agricultural and equestrian issues, and community efforts to help individuals in need.

Registration is at 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 5 p.m. Valet parking is complimentary.
