January 15, 2018 (El Cajon) – The entertainment line-up at Sycuan’s Live & Up Close Theatre this season is widely varied, including Tejano musicians Flaco and Friends in April and Artrageous, an interactive art and music experience in July.
The Artrageous troupe of artists, musicians, singers and dancers taking stage on July 24 pay tribute to a variety of art forms, pop icons and musical genres culminating in a gallery of fabulous finished paintings. With a palette that also mixes captivating vocals, intricate choreography and exciting audience interaction, Artrageous takes you on a unique visual journey packed with wild inspiration, creativity and fun.
Tejano musicians, Flaco and Friends will take the stage at Sycuan’s Live & Up Close theatre on Saturday, April 21. Flaco Jimenez is regarded as one of the most important contributors to Tejano music.
Performing with multiple conjunto groups around San Antonio, Flaco Jimenez became a stalwart in the Tejano community and eventually helped bring the genre to the attention of mainstream American artists in the 1980s and '90s. He has recorded with a variety of popular artists including Ry Cooder, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Peter Rowan and The Rolling Stones and is known as an ambassador of the Tejano style.
