

Lechuga Gonzalez topped the podium for the Aztecs in Flagstaff

January 31, 2020 (Flagstaff) - San Diego State’s diving team opened competition at the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Invitational #2 Friday with six Aztecs placing in the top 10 in the 3-meter diving competition.
Sophomore Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez took first place for the Aztecs with a preliminary score of 322.60 and a finals score of 359.15. She placed well above the second-place winner, Jennifer Cheetham of NAU, who had a preliminary score of 302.50 and a final score of 313.90. Senior Marine Yacopino fell just out of a podium spot, finishing in fourth place after marking a preliminary score of 292.15 and scoring 302.25 points in the finals.
Sophomore Lexi Letts, senior Delaney Gallagher, and sophomores Gillian Garcia and Gina Cazares tallied seventh through tenth-place marks with final scores of 262.85, 262.05, 254.00 and 252.55, respectively. Junior Erica Sarver rounded out the Aztecs finishers placing 11th with a score of 245.50 in the finals round of competition.
The Aztecs continue competition tomorrow, competing on the 1-meter and platform dive.
