February 20, 2021 (Las Vegas/Colorado Springs) - The San Diego State swimming and diving team earned a third-place finish at the 2021 MW Championships Saturday, falling to first-place UNLV by 40 points and second-place Nevada by just 31 points. For her efforts throughout the meet, Klara Thormalm was named 2021 Mountain West Championships Swimmer of the Meet.

January 15, 2021 (Malibu) - San Diego State’s swimming and diving team captured its 24th consecutive dual-meet win Friday, besting the Pepperdine Waves 95-83 at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif. The Aztecs continued a dual meet win streak that dates back to the 2017-18 season (last loss vs. Colorado State, MW Quad Meet, Jan. 8, 2018) with their win over the Waves.

January 3, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State’s swimming and diving team completed their first taste of competition in 2020 Friday, hosting both a pentathlon and scrimmage at Aztec Aquaplex.

The Aztecs welcomed the University of San Diego Toreros, Air Force Falcons, Incarnate Word Cardinals and the San Jose State Spartans for morning pentathlon action. The teams competed in multiple heats of the 100 freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. Two swimmers from each program swam in each heat of the event, allowing for the full rosters of all four teams to compete and earn marks throughout the pentathlon.

November 23, 2019 ( - San Diego State’s diving team closed out competition at the NAU Diving Invitational Saturday. The Aztecs secured two spots on the podium in the 3-meter diving contest.

Sophomore Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez lead SDSU for the second straight day, earning the Aztecs’ top finish in competition with a preliminary heat score of 306.65 and a finals core of 293.50. Senior Marie Yacopino secured her second bronze finish of the invite with a prelim mark of 288.10 and a finals score of 292.60, both season-best marks. Sophomore Gillian Garcia rounded out the top-five finishers with a preliminary score of 274.15 and a finals mark of 283.55. Sophomores Gina Cazares and Lexi Lets alongside junior Erica Sarver tallied seventh, ninth, and tenth-place marks with combined heat scores of 523.95, 490.75, and 473.80, respectively.

October 12, 2019 (Fresno) - The Aztec swim and dive team wrapped up the Chick-Fil-A Invitational at Fresno State in second place.

The Aztecs finished with 865 points, behind Cal’s 1373 points. Fresno State came in third with 471.5 and was followed by Washington State (404.5), New Mexico (402) and San Jose State (249).

February 2, 2019 (Los Angeles/Flagstaff, Ariz.) - The San Diego State swimmers capped an undefeated run through dual meet action on Saturday, defeating Loyola Marymount 124-103 at the Burns Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. Heading into the Mountain West Championships beginning on Feb. 20, the Aztecs are a perfect 13-0 and have finished their fourth undefeated dual-meet season in the last six years.

Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez led the Aztecs for the third consecutive day, finishing the day with a ninth-place finish with a final score of a 532.10.

January 11, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State swimming and diving team finished its 2018-19 home schedule with a 143.5 - 139.5 win over Fresno State at the Aztec Aquaplex on Friday morning.

Alma Thormalm was SDSU's top point scorer, winning both the 50 free (23.95) and 100 free (51.60). The Aztecs started the meet off winning each of the first eight events and logged the top time in 13 of a possible 14 swimming events.

December 31, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State swimming and diving team capped the 2018 calendar year with a pair of wins over Oregon State (134-120) and Incarnate Word (166-73) on Monday morning at the Aztec Aquaplex. With the pair of wins, SDSU improves to 10-0 in dual meets this season and 34-1 in their last 35 dual meets dating back to the start of the 2015-16 season.
