San Diego State placed five competitors in the 18-diver platform final

January 16, 2022 (Westwood, Calif.) - Gillian Garcia, with a score of 483.25 and seventh-place finish, paced the San Diego State diving team in the platform event at the Bruin Diving Invitational at Spieker Aquatic Center on the campus of UCLA on Sunday.

Joining Garcia, a senior out of Bakersfield, Calif., in the event final and occupying spots 11 through 14 were Lexi Letts, Valentina Lopez Arevalo, Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez, and Jules Harrison.

In 11^th place with a 429.45 score was Letts, a senior out of Red Mountain High in Mesa, Ariz. Lopez Arevalo scored 424.15 and was the 12^th place finisher. Arevalo, a freshman in her first collegiate competition, made the final in all three competitions over the weekend.

Lechuga Gonzalez, a senior, was 13^th and scored a 249.45, while Harrison, a sophomore, was 14^th with a score of 207.10.

A trio of freshmen, Emma Duggan, Olivia Zamudio and Summer Westmoreland, completed the competition with scores of 194.55, 192.05 and 187.20, respectively.

The Aztecs next competition is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 28 at the Aquaplex against the San Diego Toreros. The meet is set to start at 12 p.m. and the team’s 11 seniors will be honored at the event.
