October 6, 2015 (Santee) – An entertainment center with multi-plex movie theater is on the drawing board for Santee, to be located near new apartments at the end of the trolley line.

In addition, Karl Strass Brewery is seeking to come to Santee, behind the Target store at Cuyamaca Street and Town Center Parkway.

Last week, the Santee City Council approved design changes including a light-up rooftop sign for Karl Strauss.

Similar exemptions to the city’s lighting law are likely to be sought by developers of the entertainment complex, a city staff report indicates.

If approved later this fall, Karl Strauss would join five other breweries that now call Santee home.

Santee Mayor Randy Voepel is all for the projects bringing jobs to Santee and consider future sign changes to bring such businesses here, the Union-Tribune reports.  Voepel quipped, “We’re becoming hipsters here.”
