August 27, 2011 (Boulevard) – “Be the writer you have always dreamed of being,” urged Sharon Courmousis, ECM’s “Purple Mountain Sage” columnist and owner of Sacred Rocks Reserve. Now she is organizing a writer’s guild at her East County retreat in Boulevard, California.

Writers of every genre such as poems, short stories, novels and essays are invited to join fellow writers intent on honing their craft of writing.  The weekly meeting will be held in the early mornings starting promptly 7 a.m. reviewing specific writing pieces, evaluating the work of those who want to share, and closing at 8 a.m.

“The reason for the early time is to allow those who work to meet the demands of their day, and because creative writing energy is strongest before our daily life demands interfere,” Courmousis said. “If you want to learn to write, if you want to write better, if you want to meet others who write, come join in the fun.”

Special guests will be invited to speak on topics such as How to Publish, Marketing your Work, and the Business of Writing. Mostly we will be jumping into writing a piece and helping each other become better writers.

Named for the spectacular rock formations on the property, Sacred Rocks Reserve is an RV park, campground and retreat with hiking trails, stargazing, activities and more.

Sacred Rocks Reserve Writers Guild

What a novel idea, and much needed for the San Diego area, this Writers' Guild at Sacred Rocks Reserve. I have actually been out to Sharon Courmousis' retreat in Boulevard, California, and it is the ideal location for writers such as myself to hone our skills. Wish I could participate, but I will be moving back home to Chicago on September 9th. Perhaps when I get back out this way on visits I will stop by. Meanwhile, I recommend it to all my fellow writers.

I would love to carpool with you out to Sacred Rocks, but it would have to be before September 9th, as I am leaving for Chicago on that date. I do intend to come back and visit this area, as it has made a lasting impression on me.
