September 8, 2011 (San Diego) – The San Diego Medical Examiner’s office has identified the man who died at Mission Trails yesterday morning as Jeffrey Andrew Martin, 33. Martin, who was single, resided in San Diego. Cause of death has not yet been determined, pending autopsy.

A San Diego Police officer informed ECM yesterday that the body had small puncture wounds on a lower extremity consistent with snake bite, however it was unknown whether the wounds were inflicted before or after the man died.

A hiker found Martin unresponsive on a mountainside just off Father Junipero Serra Trail. According to the Medical Examiner, the hiker stopped a jogger and asked the jogger to call 911.

Santee Fire Department Engine 5 responded and confirmed death without medical intervention.
