4TH OF JULY EAST COUNTY “TEA” PARTY TAX PROTEST PLANNED

June 23, 2009 (El Cajon) –San Diego Republican Party chair Tony Krvaric has invited the public to a “TEA Party” tax protest on July 4th.

Despite the most severe budget cuts and fiscal shortfall in the state's history, The California Republican Party has held firm against raising taxes and refused to fund reelections for legislators who vote for any increases in fees or taxes to balance the budget. Instead, GOP leaders call for deeper cuts in state services and a reduction in the size of government. “Still tea’d off?” an e-mail from party chairman Tony Krvaric to fellow Republicans read. Are you “Taxed Enough Already?” Concerned about future tax increases? Join your fellow Republicans in sending a reminder to all elected officials that they work for us!”

The event is part of a national July 4th series of TEA (Taxed Enough Already) events. People of all parties are welcome.  Guest speakers include U.S. Senate candidate Chuck Devore, Assemblyman Joel Anderson, El Cajon Councilman Bill Wellsl, and radio host Rick Amato of KCBQ AM 1170. The event will be held at Renette Park, 935 Emerald Ave. in El Cajon.

Tea Party on July 4th at Renette Park

There are certainly many Republicans involved with this TEA Party event. However, as the organizer of this TEA Party, and, I do speak for many of the volunteers, this is by its very nature is a non-partisan event. Democrats, Independents, and other party affiliations are involved in this event. Many voters from all backgrounds are equally upset with the out of control spending of the Federal Government and the infringement on this Government on our liberties.

All citizens from various parties who share these same concerns are invited to this
TEA Party at Renette Park on July Fourth.

Barry, thanks for the clarification.

The invititation forwarded to ECM was sent by the County Republican Party Chairman to Republicans and appeared to be a party-sponsored event.  We have clarified the article to indicate that people in all parties are welcome.

Yesterday in Sacramento - Republicans and Schwarzenneger refused to approve it. Apparently they would rather have poor, sick and disabled people lose healthcare than to make people pay more for cigarettes and booze. There were other elements of the budget proposal of course, but it's hard to imagine how anyone could fail to agree on charging more for cigarettes (which contribute to our high healthcare costs) when people's lives are at stake with these budget cuts.
