EL CAJON COUNCIL TAKES EXTENDED SUMMER BREAK

August 2,2012 (El Cajon)—Two El Cajon Council members opted to go on vacation, and the Mayor indicated he was ill; forcing cancellation of the July 24 meeting due to lack of a quorum. The July 24 agenda has been continued until August 14.

“Council members would have a full month to go on "vacation," but two decided they couldn't wait,” El Cajon resident Bob Clark said in an email to ECM, noting that an August 28 council meeting had also previously been announced as cancelled. “It seems to me irresponsible for two council members to decide to go on 'vacation 'at the same time.”

Extended Summer Break? While our city is doing poorly!

In these tough economic times, our city needs stronger leadership, it needs to take bold action to ensure that we have a strong middle class and jobs for everyone. El Cajon is the poorest in the county and yet we have the highest sales tax. We have one of the highest sewer rates and fee structures.

A vacation? ... No sir, you guys have work to do!

This November, I urge the voters of EL CAJON not to settle for the way things are. We can do better.
