February 2, 2015 (La Mesa) – San Diego Police have arrested John David Weissinger, 53, of La Mesa for making a criminal threat against the Council on American-Islamic Relations.  He is also charged with illegally owning, buying or selling an illegal large-capacity ammunition magazine.

Weissinger allegedly phoned the organization’s San Diego chapter in Kearny Mesa, according to a statement issued by Executive Director Hanif Mohebi.

“We hope this arrest sends a clear message that targeting Americans based on their faith or their civic participation will not be tolerated,” Mohebi said in the statement.

Weissinger is slated for arraignment on Tuesday.

This is not the first threat received by the  Islamic advocacy group. UT San Diego reports that in October, the San Diego chapter notoifeid that FBI that it had received a letter referring to a “death sentence” along with a bag of an unknown substance mailed to the office.

cair is tied to terrorist

cair is tied to terrorist organizations and is an anti American anti free speech radical organization .. they should be disbanded and expelled

Denigating and insulting Muslims is fine,

according to many, including the US ambassador to France (recent post here), but then the fringe elements take hate speech to (for them) its logical conclusion, which is that these good people are threats and must be eliminated. Weissinger allegedly picked up the phone and made a call, which allegedly included threats. Why not? he may have thought. I'm doing the community a favor, aren't I? It's a logical progression for some people and there's no need to initiate it in the first place with hate speech. Can't we all just get along?
