March 12, 2015 (El Cajon) – Photographer Robert Gehr snapped these beautiful early season barrel cactus blooms – no, not in the desert, but in the cactus garden outside the Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center in downtown El Cajon.
"I find the Cacti very interesting in that such a tough, thorny plant can produce such exquisite beauty which attracts hummingbirds and bees,” he writes, adding, “This is one of my go to places for photographing nature in the city."
