April 27, 2015 (San Diego)--Pacificaires and the Cedar Center Chorus will host a Spring concert on Saturday, May 16  at 2 p.m. in the College Avenue Baptist Church, 4747 College Ave., near San Diego State University.

The program will showcase talented soloists, ensembles, three piano-playing directors, and a seven-piece orchestra, amidst the rich harmonies of a large, world-class chorus. There’s something for everyone in the diverse program for this concert, which has free admission.

The program theme, "I Know the Words: Poetry and Music " includes renditions of William Butler Yeats and Walt Whitman, plus Puccini and Cole Porter; a series of songs from recent movies: ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen, ‘Children Will Listen’ from Into the Woods, and 'Cups' from Pitch Perfect; as well as a rousing version of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’’, a haunting response to the Columbine shooting called ‘Rain Come Down’, and a ringing salute to those who serve called ‘Song for the Unsung Hero’.

The concert is directed by Eunice Williams and co-instructors Stewart Simon and Patricia Cox. There is plentiful free parking and easy access to comfortable theater.

Pacificaires members are mostly vibrant seniors ages 50 to 94.  Pacificaires started nearly 40 years ago under the auspices of the Continuing Education/Emeritus program of the San Diego Community College District.
