March 9, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) – If you’re in search of Irish music, Irish beer or feasting on Irish foods to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day,  here are some St. Patrick’s Day happenings in East County.

IRISH MUSIC AT HOOLEY’S

Hooleys Irish Pub and Grill will feature Irish musical entertainment.  At the Grossmont Center location, Tony Cummins, two-time nominee for Irish Music Association awards, will perform at 8:30 p.m. At Hooley’s Rancho San Diego location, Lexington Green will perform, also at 8:30 p.m.  With authentic Irish food and drinks, Hooley’s has repeatedly been voted best Irish pub in San Diego and once was named the best Irish pub outside of Ireland by an association of Irish pub owners.  For details visit www.hooleys.com.

IRISH MENU AT D.Z. AKINS

D.Z. (6930 Alvarado Rd., San Diego) Akins is serving up a corned beef and cabbage special from Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19. The meal comes with D.Z.’s Honey Glaze, Red Parsley Potatoes, Soup or Salad (featuring D.Z.’s famous potato soup), fresh-baked Rye Bread and a 4-Leaf Clover Cookie for Dessert. Plus, complimentary green carnations will be given out on March 17th while supplies last.  Lunch is served 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $15.95, dinner is from 4 to 9 p.m. and costs $19.95. ST. PATRICK’S TEAS AT JULIAN TEA

It’s worth a trip to the mountains to savor a St. Patrick’s Day green-themed cottage classic tea at Julian Tea (2124 Third St., Julian).  From Thursday March 16th through Monday March 20th, the special set menu starts with potato leek soup and pumpkin soup with mini cheese scone, followed by corned beef and green-themed finger sandwiches and a Shamrock scone with curd, jam and whipped cream, plus dessert. A children’s tea is available for kids 12; vegetarian and gluten-free options are available with advance notice. Seating times are 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Cost is $24.95 for adults, $8.95 for children not counting tax and gratuity. ST. PATRICK’S DAY BASH AT CALVIN’S SPORTS BAR IN PINE VALLEY

Calvin’s Sports Bar and Restaurant (28841 Old Highway 80) in Pine Valley is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day bash on Friday, March 17 from 4 p.m. to midnight.  The festivities include authentic Irish food, Guinness, cocktails and a classic rock band.    Learn more at facebook.com/events/3785671925.

IRISH BEER PARTY AT COIN HAUS IN LA MESA

Coin Haus in La Mesa (8361 Allison Ave.) invites you to a beer and cheese-tasting party with an Irish theme on Saturday March 18 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Sample craft brews and cheeses and partake in retro arcade games while partying hearty by tapping into dozens of self-serve beer and wine taps.  This event is for age 21 and up.  Cost is $55.   Buy tickets
