September 11, 2018 (Ramona) -- Check out two utility boxes turned into art at 4th and Main across from the Ramona Valley Inn by Lourans Mikhail and another at 14th and Main, facing 14th next to Dunkin Donuts, by Marie Bravo.
Marie Bravo, an art student at San Diego State University, is a Ramona resident and artist. Lourans Mikhail, a Marine veteran, is currently attending the San Diego Art Institute. He is a Ramona local artist, graphic artist guild member, and a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA).
Ramona artists have now completed ten of seventeen mini-murals on SDG&E utility boxes as part of the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project. These artists are part of the project to expand its wall mural program to include utility boxes. The new “mini-murals” program will include 17 SDG&E utility boxes scheduled for artwork as part of a grant from the Ramona Community Foundation and donations from Ransom Brothers Lumber & Supply Company.
Artists are already underway painting the remaining seven utility boxes and all should be complete by the end of September.
