THREE-VEHICLE CRASH IN RAMONA MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY DUI DRIVER

March 6, 2019 (Ramona) – The driver of a  Mercedes may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he drifted over the center line on Dye Road in Ramona yesterday afternoon and sideswiped a Subaru, then struck a Toyota Tundra head-on.

According to Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 4:32 p.m. on Dye Road near Duraznitos Road.  

The driver of the Mercedes, a 56-year-old Poway man, suffered major injuries and was flown via air ambulance to Palomar Hospital in Escondido.  The Subaru Forester driver, a 53-year-old Escondido woman, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Pomerado Hospital in Poway.  The Toyota Tundra Driver, a 74-year-old Ramona man, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Poway.

I wonder...

...how many people are driving impaired on public roads while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or probably more common, prescription drugs? Endangering, injuring even killing other innocent drivers and pedestrians. Shameful behavior.
