March 18, 2019 (Guatay) – A Guatay man, 56, died at the scene of a collision yesterday at 4:25 a.m. He was riding a Suzuki SV1000 motorcycle on Olde Highway 80 approaching westbound State Route 79, when a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a Temecula man, 21, entered the intersection to make a left turn, violating the motorcyclist’s right-of-way, according to Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist tried to avoid a collision by laying the motorcycle on its side. Both the motorcycle and its rider tumbled in a westerly direction and struck the Chevrolet.

CHP and fire department personal arrived on scene, but due to the massive trauma sustained, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the site.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected as factors in the collision.  The driver of the Chevrolet remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The motorcyclist’s identity will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office after family has been notified.

Happens frequently. So many vehicle drivers (who have never ridden a bike) simply have little awareness in 'seeing' a motorcycle sharing the road with them.
