July 13, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – This afternoon’s storm dumped two inches of rain on Mt. Laguna in just a 48-minute period, the National Weather Service reports, with potential flash flooding through 6 p.m. in the mountain areas.

An excessive heat warning remains in effect for lower desert areas through Monday, with temperatures forecast to reach 112-115 degrees.

A chance of more thundershowers remains, with the possibility of dry lightning sparking fires.

Serious rain?

Sometime around 1980 +- I saw some "serious rainfall" from a military helicopter with the General Staff of the San Diego Fire Department. We were flying over every reservoir in the City and County of San Diego. At each dam, the spillways were dumping "serious rainfall". That tour took around 4+ hours. Over El Capitan, the spillway was dumping plenty of water into the San Diego River, where I now live on the banks. Another occasion we had "serious rainfalls" one in particular collapsed the roof of a bowling alley in Mission Valley near 70th Street and was closing cross streets in Mission Valley. . I was on duty working that one. Again, Serious rain. When I was a kid in East San Diego, it rained non stop for 2 weeks. As a kid in San Diego, my family used to reminisce about when Mission Valley flooded bank to bank. No one then said "serious rain". Somehow, some of us view "climate vs weather" as relative to our Earth and solar system. We have about as much control over rainfall as the so called Global Warming farce and it was attributed to forces beyond our control. As far as I am concerned, 2" is a fart in the wind.

Wow! :-()

That's some serious rainfall...
