Updated July 11, 2010 with biographical information and photo provided by Sarah Waldron, the victim's brother.

April 1, 2010 (Lakeside) – El Cajon resident Chris Ethan Allen Krum, 34, father of eight children, died from injuries sustained when he lost control of the 1994 Toyota Camry he was driving on Barona Road in Lakeside last night. The vehicle struck a tree and Krum was partially ejected from the vehicle. Despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, he died at the scene.

Born September 8, 1975 in Casa Grande, Arizona to Kenneth Arhold Krum and Joan Loreta Allen, Krum's life was marred by tragedy when he was just ten months old.  "My mother's and stepfather's mobile home caught fire in the middle of the night," rcalled Krum's sister, Sarah Waldron, "killing his older sister, Hidey, 3, and brother Kenny, 2, leaving my mother and brother badly burned."

Chris Krum underwent skin graph surgery and hair follicle transplants over the next seven years and soon became better, Waldron recalled.  He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburg and became a tattoo artist as well as a stay-at-home father.

He had run-ins with the law and was in jail more than once.  But Waldron told East County Magazine, "In his life, Chris touched many lives. He was the example of you can't judge a book by its cover. Chris was the type of person who would put everyone else before himself, even he has little or nothing to spare he would find a way to help everyone."

Krum was married and the father of eight children. He resided in El Cajon, according to the County Medical Examiner.

He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey D.L. Waldron, sisters Sarah Elizabeth Waldron and Britni Michel Waldron, his wife, Jessica Krum, and hils children:  Anthony, 16, Jarod, 12, Jade, 11, Christopher, 10, Zoey, 6, Derrick, 2, and Braidon, 1.

CHP in El Cajon is investigating the crash.
