May 19, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres are often the recipients of Boston ex-pats via trades, and this weekend, Xander Bogaerts had a mini-reunion with his old friends as the Red Sox came to town. James Paxton started tonight’s game one for Boston against Blake Snell.
The Sox got the upper hand in the second when Rafael Devers hit a solo homer and Boston led 1-0 after two.
Rob Refsnyder came through for Boston in the third with the bases loaded with a gapper to right center that scored two and gave him a double and Raffy did it again with a three-run blast to straight center. Fernando Tatis Jr. tried to help in the home half with a solo homer to right center, but the Red Sox proved to be tougher than expected and took game one 6-1.

Game two is late for a Saturday for some reason, at 7:10 p.m. Chris Sale starts for Boston against Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove.
