May 26, 2019 (San Diego) -The Padres have rocked the Blue Jays this weekend, including a 19-4 win yesterday to put them solely in second place.  Today, they went for a sweep with Robbie Erlin on the mound against Marcus Stroman for the Jays.

The Blue Jays started things off in the second.  After Cavan Biggio’s--son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio--first major league hit, Brandon Drury grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to give the Jays a 1-0 lead after two.

Gurriel Jr. hit his third straight home run of the series in the fourth with a blast to left and Biggio blasted his first major league home run with a towering shot to right and the Blue Jays led 3-0 after four.

The Padres got one back in the fifth when Wil Myers hit one to the second deck in left.  The Padres trailed 3-1.

But in the bottom of the fifth, Justin Smoak smoked a high fly ball to center that was a good home run for two runs.

Gurriel Jr. shot a double to the left center gap to score Randal Grichuk. Biggio scored Gurriel Jr. with a single to the same place and the Blue Jays led 7-1 after five.

Smoak stabbed the Padres in the heart in the eighth with the dagger, a three-run blast to right and the Blue Jays avoided a sweep and got revenge for yesterday, ending the Padres’ five-game winning streak and winning 10-1.
