August 7, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres tried for the split today after getting roasted by the Dodgers yesterday. Tony Gonsolin started for L.A. against Seth Lugo.
It started right; Luis Campusano jacked a two-run homer in the third and Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled to score two. Manny Machado hit a sac fly to score Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 5-0 after three.
But then the Dodgers came roaring back. David Peralta doubled in the fourth to score Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward doubled to score two, Miguel Rojas singled to score Heyward and Mookie Betts smacked a grand slam and L.A. led 8-5 after four.
Enrique Hernandez hit a solo homer in the sixth, Will Smith singled to score James Outman, Max Muncy doubled to score two, Peralta hit a sac fly to score Smith and Campusano singled in the home half to score Jake Cronenworth and the Dodgers took the series with a 13-7 win (Campusano added one more run in the ninth on a home run).
