August 4, 2023 (San Diego) - Finally, an entertaining series. The Dodgers come to town for a good old-fashioned rivalry. Bobby Miller started for L.A. tonight against Yu Darvish.
James Outman gave the Dodgers the lead in the second with a solo homer and L.A. led 1-0 after two.
The Padres tied the game in the fourth on Luis Campusano’s RBI single to right that scored Jake Cronenworth. Trent Grisham scored on a fielder’s choice. Ji-Man Choi scored on a passed ball and the Padres led 2-1 after four.
Grisham singled to right in the sixth to score Choi and the Padres led 3-1 after six.
Outman singled to third in the seventh. The ball was bobbled by Manny Machado and David Peralta scored. The Padres led 3-2 after seven.
The Dodgers succeeded in tying the game in the eighth with an RBI double by Peralta to score Enrique Hernandez. With the bases loaded, Robert Suarez walked Chris Taylor. J.D. Martinez walked to score Peralta. Amed Rosario singled to left to score two. Grisham singled to right in the home half to score Cronenworth and the Dodgers led 7-4 after eight.
L.A. loaded the bases again in the ninth and Will Smith doubled to score Mookie Betts, Peralta hit a sac fly to score Freddie Freeman. Taylor singled to center to score Smith. Juan Soto tried in the ninth with a solo homer to deep left, but the Dodgers took game one with a 10-5 win.

Game two tomorrow is at 5:40 p.m. starts for the Dodgers against Blake Snell.
