April 11, 2017 (Denver) - Probably no Padres win will ever top last night’s, when Wil Myers hit for the cycle, but that doesn’t mean the Pads can’t try and win again. The veteran Jered Weaver faced the rookie, 22-year-old Antonio Senzatela for the Rockies.
The Padres took advantage of the rookie right away. Manuel Margot did his usual, homering in the first to give San Diego a 1-0 lead.
But even Margot was no match for CarGo. In the fourth, Carlos Gonzalez smashed a solo homer to tie the game at one.
And CarGo was no match for Wil Myers. He hit a sac fly in the sixth to score Margot and the Padres reclaimed a 2-1 lead.
From then on, the Rockies’ stars just kept one-upping the Padres. Charlie Blackmon hit a solo homer in the bottom half of the sixth to tie the game at two. Then in the seventh, Nolan Arenado hit another solo homer to give Colorado the lead at 3-2. That was all the Rockies needed to even the series at one.
The rubber match is tomorrow at 12:10 p.m. Luis Perdomo will face the Denver native playing for his hometown team, Kyle Freeland.
