September 17, 2018 (San Diego) - At this point, the Padres are just coasting through September, waiting for the torture to end.  Luckily, for most of the rest of the season, they’re facing a team almost as bad as them in the Giants.  Andrew Suarez started tonight’s game one for San Francisco against Bryan Mitchell.

The Padres are making the most of their annual walk of shame, however.  Austin Hedges blasted a mammoth homer to left to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.

But the Giants struck back in the fourth, first with Brandon Crawford’s game-tying home run and the go-ahead run in Chris Shaw scored by Aramis Garcia’s line drive RBI single to left.  San Fran went ahead 2-1.
Evan Longoria increased the Giants’ lead with his 16th home run of the year - a line drive homer off the second basket of the Western Supply Co. building for a 4-1 San Fran lead.

The Padres tried and cut the lead in half with Hunter Renfroe's RBI single in the eighth, but the Giants came away with the 4-2 game one win.

Tomorrow’s game two is at 7:10 p.m.  Derek Holland starts for San Fran against Joey Lucchesi.
